Garden design consultation

A garden design consultation is a focused 60-minute visit where Zoe explores the potential of your garden and shares professional ideas for layout, planting and the overall direction of the space.

During the consultation you will walk through the garden together, discussing how the space could be improved, how it might be used and how a thoughtful design could transform the garden.

Many clients find that this session provides clarity, inspiration and a clear direction for their garden project.

Drawing on her training in garden and planting design, Zoe will look at the space as a whole and offer professional insight into how the garden could evolve.

What happens during the consultation

During the visit Zoe will explore the garden with you and discuss how the space might be developed.

Topics often include:

• layout ideas and spatial flow
• how different areas of the garden could be used
• planting direction and overall character
• materials and landscaping elements
• practical considerations such as levels, drainage or access

The aim is to help you see the garden with fresh eyes and understand the possibilities for the space.

A professional garden design consultation can also help minimise costly mistakes. By exploring ideas and practical considerations early in the process, the consultation provides clarity and direction before landscaping work begins.

Many clients find that this early guidance gives them the confidence to move forward with their garden project.

When a garden design consultation is helpful

A design consultation is ideal if you:

• are considering redesigning your garden
• would like professional guidance before landscaping begins
• are unsure how best to use the space
• want advice on planting, layout or materials
• would like to explore ideas before committing to a full design project

Some clients book a consultation simply to gain professional advice, while others use it as the first step towards a full garden design.

What happens afterwards

Many clients book a garden design consultation simply to gain professional advice and clarity about their garden. The session often provides enough ideas and direction for them to move forward with their project independently.

For those considering a full garden redesign, Zoe can also prepare a proposal outlining the scope of the garden design work and the associated design fee.

If you decide to proceed with a full garden design, the consultation fee is credited towards the design fee, meaning the consultation becomes the first step in the wider design process.
