Answers to your questions!

Here are the answers to lots of questions that I often get asked. If you have any other questions about how we work, drop me an email and I will happily answer them for you

What is a garden concept design?
A garden design concept is a scaled illustration showing how to arrange your space according to your specifications. It involves looking at the space and creating different areas or zones, based on how you would like to use your garden. I will take into consideration boundaries, services, shrubs that need to be retained and different levels etc. This design can then be passed on to your landscaper in order to carry out the hard landscaping work.

I am able to recommend landscaping companies to you, and will be available at the beginning of the project when briefing takes place to talk through the design together, and then again at the end once the installation is complete and ready to commence with the plant planning. I have found that this approach gives flexibility to our clients to work with whichever landscaper they chose, and also reduces costs in the form of a project management fee from me, as I will not need to oversee the job from start to finish.

What is a planting plan?
A planting plan is a plan for your beds and borders. This will be to scale, and will indicate how many of each type of plants is needed, and how they should be positioned for the best effect. It also includes a care plan for the plants for their future upkeep.

Can you order the plants?
I have established relationships with many nurseries, and are able to source plants for the designs I have created. I am able to organise ordering and delivery of plants for you, which will involve a management fee. We can also arrange to plant them for you at a fee of £25 per hour. Or, you can source the plants yourself, it's totally up to you!

What services does your garden design company offer?
I offer a range of services, including garden consultation, garden design concepts, planting plans and bed and border design, ongoing maintenance guidance, and plant supply for designs I have created. Whether you need a complete garden design concept or just need help with specific aspects of your outdoor space, I have the expertise to assist you.

Do you provide garden design services for small spaces?
Yes, absolutely! I specialise in designing gardens for all sizes of spaces, including small beds, to compact courtyards, balconies, and rooftops. I can work in any garden space no matter the size. I work creatively with limited space to create stunning and functional gardens that maximise the potential of small areas.

How much does garden design service cost?
The cost of garden design services can vary depending on the size of your garden, the complexity of the design, and the specific services you require. I offer personalised quotes based on your unique needs. My garden design fees are £45 per hour.

To create a full planting plan, my fees are £10-12 per sq/m, depending on the size of the planting areas – plus £80, with a minimum cost of £300. I am always happy to provide a moodboard only, which will reduce the cost. These will be individually priced for each project.

Do you provide garden maintenance services after the design is complete?
While the primary focus is on garden concept design and planting plans, we also offer maintenance guidance and tips to help you care for your new garden, beds or borders. We like to offer an annual garden check-up to see how the plants have settled, and to take some photographs, if ok with you.

Can I collaborate with your designers to incorporate my ideas into the garden design?
Absolutely! I believe in creating gardens that reflect our clients' preferences and lifestyles. I will work closely with you, listen to your ideas and requirements, and incorporate them into the design to ensure the final result aligns with your vision.

How long does the garden design concept process usually take?
The timeline for the garden design process can vary depending on the complexity of the project. Generally, it takes a few weeks to complete the design together with the planting plans, if I am doing this, depending on the amount of work. For hard landscaping installations the landscaping company will be able to advise on this aspect.

Is it possible to have a low-maintenance garden design?
Absolutely! If you prefer a low-maintenance garden, I can recommend suitable plants, hardscapes, and design elements that require minimal upkeep. I can tailor the design to suit your lifestyle and preferences, making gardening enjoyable and manageable for you.
